Sale price and savings.
The Discount Calculator finds the sale price after a percentage off and shows the amount saved.
Discount = Original × Discount rate. Sale price = Original − Discount.
Sale = Original × (1 − Rate%)A $200 jacket at 35% off costs $130 — a savings of $70.
Multiply the factors: 20% off then 10% off is (1−0.20) × (1−0.10) = 0.72, a 28% total discount, not 30%.
Discount usually applies at checkout; markdown is a reduced ticket price shown before checkout. Either way, the customer pays the reduced amount.
Only if the item was priced fairly to begin with. Compare against average selling price using price-tracking tools before assuming a percentage-off is a deal.
